Assessment Center &
Emergency Shelter
The Assessment
Center offers a short-term placement while more permanent plans
are being made to help each child. A child coming into the Assessment
Center will receive a thorough evaluation of his medical and dental
needs, his psychological condition, his educational status, and
his family situation. A team made up of his social worker, our professional
staff, and, if appropriate, his family, will review each child's
needs and determine the most effective way of meeting them.
If the child's
needs can be met in one of the programs of The Children's Home of
Lubbock--basic care, therapeutic care, or foster care--and if there
is an available space in our program--the child may be placed at
the Home. If there are no vacancies, or if the child needs a more
intensive care program than we can provide, we will work with the
team to help find an appropriate placement.
